I was wondering - does anyone know why certain posters and things are
blurred out when the show is broadcast? If it is a set, why would they
have things there that aren't appropriate for TV?

In which country are you watching Degrassi? If it's the one shown in the
US on "The N", it's probably due to American censors being picky about
things Canadian censors would let slide. You know, since we need to be
protected from the outside world.

More likely that the things advertised on the posters and clothing, etc.
didn't get permission to use(or was paid to be used) by the series. You can
see that on a few shows (especially on MTV) where someone might be wearing a
t-shirt or hat with the name or logo blurred out or a can or bottle would
have some tape over the label.

On the other hand, you can notice some items are prominently placed in
shots, like on a show I saw the other night. A detective was pulling a
printed page from a printer with the name of the manufacturer displayed big
as life.

They are even starting to digitally add product placements. You can see
it in popular sindicated shows they often put logos on billboards that
were not originally shot like that, or in seinfeld where they do
something like put a can of pepsi in Kramers hand for a couple shots.
